As you know, you're expected to read the novels on the Summer Reading List (The Scarlet Letter, Huckleberry Finn, and a novel by Dickens). Because many of you have read one or more of the novels on the list, I'm providing you with a supplemental list for your summer reading. This is an optional assignment, but as A.P. English students, you would be well served to take this opportunity to improve your skills and enlarge your awareness of literature. Choose one (or more) of the books on the following list. (Before getting started, read a bit about the author, the time period, and the cultural and historical associations relating to the work.) Happy reading!
